Hi there
Does anyone know whether when John Lewis has a discounted sale on if their fitted kitchens are included? I am in the process of planning our new kitchen, and want to get it all done and the quote ready for when they next have a sale, and then I can just go in and place the order.
Do you know a) whether kitchens are even included in the sale and b) when the next sale might be?
Thanks
Goochie

Why have you selected only one potential supplier when you are at the planning stage for such a big ticket exercise? You need several quotes from more than one place.
You would do well to research JL kitchens on this board too.
JL or bust seems a bit tunnel visionish to me.

Agree with KS.Do you know a) whether kitchens are even included in the sale and b) when the next sale might be?
Have you asked John Lewis?
Kitchens are always 'on sale' if you know how to haggle.0 -
Let's be honest about this - There is no such thing as a 'Sale' in the kitchen industry.
Certainly from the mid market and above everything is made to order. The whole point of a true sale is to shift excess stock of items that are in the warehouse and this doesn't happen when products are made to order.
As DD says the only true way to get some money of a kitchen is to haggle, and I don't think John Lewis is necessarily the place to do that.
The most important consideration by far with a new kitchen is the design. Put it this way - what is the point of getting a perceived 'sale' price on a new kitchen if the design is bad.
The taste of poor quality lives on long after the sweetness of a cheap price.

Agree with whats been said on this point so far. One thing I'd like to add is this - If a retailer is willing to drop their offer price by 10-15%, run a mile. If they really have that kind of margin to give away, what sort of margins are they working to and why haven't they offered you an honest and competitive price in the first place? We’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks for all your replies, although none of you answered my question, it would appear that your views of John Lewis kitchens do not match those of the Which guide, which recommends them. Also, the assumption that I have just picked a company out of thin air without any research. This is just one in a number of companies that I am researching.
I take it that you are not fans of John Lewis kitchens. I will continue to do research, and yes, I will ask in store, but thought it was worth asking here as well.0 -

I imagine my view would be similar to many other forum posters. It is not that I am "not a fan of John Lewis kitchens". Instead it is a case of why pay for the mark up and spiel that goes with these kitchens when one can source from their suppliers at a lower cost.0 -
'it would appear that your views of John Lewis kitchens do not match those of the Which guide, which recommends them.'
I have personally never been a big fan of Which reviews. I really dont think they are reflective of all factors one must take into account while buying a product.
In the case of JL kitchens for instance, having come across a lot of their designs, I think their design is really very mediocre. A number of my clients who also dealt with them have told me that they were incredibly slow and uncooperative to deal with. And finally as Furts says, it is possible to buy at least 2 and almost certainly all of their kitchen ranges substantially cheaper elsewhere. Wonder what happens to the 'never knowingly....' ethos in this respect. We’ve had to remove your signature. The 'never knowingly undersold' promise comes with various exclusions.
The Which car guide (a magazine of reviews) is completely out of sync with reviews in other publications, and with my own experiences.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Instead of looking to buy your kitchen from John Lewis, why not research buying your kitchen direct from the supplier? It will save you money!
This is something I once went into myself, but the company had at least a 6 week lead time for supply & I needed my units within a 2 weeks time frame as builders were working on refurbishing my house. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
