Hi,
Quick one - I have a Vaillant EcoTec combi boiler with no thermostat installed. The dial for heating is at the zero position and the water dial at full position.
With the weather booming, can I switch this unit off at the mains or should I leave it powered on. I assume, if I turn it off, I wont be able to get hot water on demand??
Thanks

Why would you want to switch it off?, you would then not get Hot Water. Just , switch off the heating.
you must have either a thermostat or TVRs, surely otherwise how do you adjust the heating?0 -
Your boiler does not have a thermostat? I think you should concentrate on worrying about your buildings and contents and life insurances being up to date before faffing about with anything else.0

Anyway, I assume you mean you just don't have a room thermostat. Turning the electricity off and on is generally considered a bad idea - you will need to turn it on every time you want hot water. The cost in electricity for having it on standby is (to most) not worth the risk and cost of wear and tear on the boiler.0

Leave as is, heating off, water on, but reduce the water temp too. On max it will be delivering water at about 65 degrees and using more gas, which means in hot weather you are then cooling it. Our HW is currently set to 40 degrees which means no cold is required when just the hot tap is running.0

With power off, your boiler will not operate-so no hot water all summer.
What would be the benefit, other than a tiny saving on electricity? No free lunch, and no free laptop
