  • Medical, Hi,

Don't touch Sky with a Catheter! Technical service help line has to be the worst in the world. I had a problem before I was even up and running, and was told someone would get back to me in 5 days. I said do you mean I have to wait in for someone to phone. The answer was yes!

I was actually thinking of taking out Pipex but note you are ditching them. Can I ask why.

only because we think sky all together will be cheaper, we have been with pipex for 4 yrs and have never had to phone tech service once, i think we will go to them and re-negotiate for a reduction on the basis that we have being with them long term

  • Espresso, hi,

Do you work for Sky? I'm not just one disgruntled customer, have a look at MSE web pages regarding Sky Broadband. There are not many that are satisfied!
  • Depends what you want Sky for - if you want uncapped 16mbit broadband through a BT line you have to pay line rental on, then you can consider the TV a free extra (I do), but if you'd rather have a capped slower service you could go with NTL and not pay line rental, but you'll get less channels. Note it's only capped if you use it loads, so it doesn't effect you unless you're downloading tons of stuff, and btw, NTL is very fast, Sky is just faster.
As for service, there's mixed reports but as a new Sky customer I'm happy :).
If you're going to sign up, go through Quidco and buy online for £10 account credit plus £50 from Quidco, or send me a PM and I'll give you a refer a friend code where I get free Sky+ installation and equipment, and you get nothing (sorry) so I'll offer you £65, and you'll get it as soon as you sign up rather than waiting for it :).

No I have absolutely no connection with Sky. You will always get more people moaning about service providers than giving praise but I prefer to look at the sites like dslzone thinkbroadband and ispreview to see how they rate compared to each other. Sky have had their start up problems but they have built up a customer base of over 500,000 in a fairly short space of time and they are rated higher than some of the more popular providers like BT, Demon, Eclipse, Plusnet, Pipex TalkTalk, Tiscali, Orange etc.etc.

I also think that a lot of Sky customers have never had BB before and don't really have a clue what they are doing!
