I don't use moisturiser in the day as it makes me sweaty! The aloe vera seems to moisturise my skin enough. If I do use one it is Olay as that seems to be non greasy.

I have tried lots of mattifying creams and gels (some super expensive) but none has worked for me really.

  • Thanks. I will nip into Holland & Barrett.

It's really bizarre how this helps mattify the skin considering it helps dry skin conditions.

Anyway, I'll buy some aloe vera gel & some corn flour. I will let you know how I get on :)

I think you can get those paper cosmetic thin papers to wipe on your skin when your face gets oily. I know they use to have it at Body Shop a long time ago but I'm not sure if they carry them anymore. But you can go to a cosmetic store or drug store to ask for them. I used to use it on my nose as it gets oily and it worked for me.

I recently bought aloe vera gel from superdrug while on offer, it's currently half price http://www.superdrug.com/vaseline/vaseline-gel-aloe-fresh-200ml/invt/554928&bklist=

You don't need much as it goes quite far.

I use Clinique three steps but with moisturizing gel instead of the lotion as it is oil free. This has helped a lot getting the skin right before getting the make up right.

I am very sensitive though so have to stick to this brand.

I also use Clinique's three steps and have found that this helped me with my make up alot!
  • Bought some aloe vera gel from H & B.

Have been using it the past couple of days, however, not sure whether it's really helping get rid of the shine.

Before ever using the aloe vera, I have noticed I have quite a few blocked pores and am thinking it maybe due to the hot dusty weather.

Is there a product that helps un-block pores?

My skin is acting very weird of late. Driving me mad lol.

I carry a little corn flour in a sifter pot and at lunchtime when I feel my nose glowing brightly like a beacon I pop some on with a kabuki brush. It mops up the oil leaving me matt but since it is so finely milled it is transparent (cheap too).

Marrowgirl, thank you so much for this tip! I tried the cornflour a couple of days ago underneath a fine dusting of mineral powder foundation and oh my word, it works!

I was amazed I didn't have to touch up at all during the day, even in this heat and my skin is very oily!

I'm so pleased to have found something that works and costs pennies. I have read you can have reactions to it but so far nothing and I've been using it every day :j:j
  • I am starting to like the Aloe Vera gel. It gives a nice tightening affect to.

Must remember to buy some corn flour next time I'm at the supermarket.

Here's a money saving tip - buy some extra thin rizla papers (blue packet) and blot with those! They do the job well.
