I am updating to Macromedia Flash Player version 9.0.28.0, older versions were detected when I scanned using "software inspector". I have downloaded the latest version, but it is showing as macromedia flash player 8 on my add/remove programs and yet the software inspector is picking versions 4,5,6 & 7 on my computer. Please what can I do to remove them? Thanks

    Download CCCleaner https://www.ccleaner.com

If you click Tools you can Uninstall programs than way. Once unstalled click Issues and then Scan for Issues and it will scan all the little bits its left behind. Fix the Selected Issues then backup the changes when it asks just incase it takes off something it shouldn't.

Due to recent enhancements to the Adobe Flash Player installers, you can now remove the player only by using the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller. To remove Flash Player, simply download and run the appropriate uninstaller for your system using the steps below.
    1. Download the Adobe Flash Player uninstaller:
    2. Save the file to your system, choosing a location where you can find it (for example, your desktop). Macintosh users may need to open or unstuff the hqx file.
    3. Quit ALL running applications, including all Internet Explorer or other browser windows, AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, or other Messengers. Check the Windows system tray carefully to make certain no applications which might possibly use Flash Player are still in memory.
    4. Run the uninstaller. This will remove Adobe Flash Player from all browsers on the system.
Note: The uninstaller cannot remove files currently in use.
If you have any instances of the player open in your web browsers, instant messaging clients, stand-alone SWFs, or projectors, then the uninstaller will complete but some files may not be deleted. If this occurs, then close all of your applications and run the uninstaller again to ensure that all files are removed.

You should be aware that some of the earlier versions of Flash had badly designed MSI / EXE installers. This prevents some versions from being removed correctly or upgraded. We know this because we deployed it to thousands of PCs across our organisation. The software company removed a version 7 MSI which was really bad for the problems, but they didn't bother to let anyone know about it!

P.s.... the uninstaller provided by the company also didn't remove this particular version of the flash installer. Im guessing thats why they removed it because even they couldn't remove it correctly!
