Hi,
I didn't want to start a new thread because i'd got the impression that it was better to continue open threads about these cowboys but i have just been told to start my own, so sorry for repetition!
Basically, my partner got a parking charge notice for our car that i was driving at the time. she is the reg keeper.
Last week i went into the coop car park in Hebden Bridge at 8.45 AM to get my son some drinks for his pack up. I then took him to school, went and did 4 hours voluntary work, 10 miles away, in the car in question, for a children s charity and then popped back into the coop car park for a sandwich for my late lunch at 2.58 pm.
The parking charge notice gives all the usual threats and says we can save ourselves £45 by paying quickly.
Now the fact is that i did nothing wrong and can probably prove it too but i just aint up to going to court etc. at the moment because we have enough stress with other things at the moment.
If i complain to the coop, who own the car park can they make them take it back?
And..... The notice accuses me of being in the car park for 5 hours 59 mins (roughly) and that is why they are fining me. I wasn't, i was in the car park for 2 periods of 10 mins max!
I will complain to the coop and stop spending around £150 a week in there if this isn't sorted to my satisfaction but like many people, i'm scared of letters that claim to have you by the short and c's.
What would be the best course of action please? I am disabled with 2 small children at local schools volunteering for a charity so the local paper might be interested and i would have thought that the local coop would treat customers better Than this as we are supposed to be share holders!
Thanks in anticipation

The Co-op are supposed to pride themselves in doing the right thing, being ethical. And yet they - or the landowner - have contracted with an unscrupulous unethical private parking company to harass their customers.
Firstly, complain to the Store Manager in person about this well-known 'first in last out' camera scam. And if he/she doesn't make a quick phone call to cancel it then write or email the CEO of the Co-op - go to the top. And for a swift outcome you could post a COMPLAINT about it on the Co-op facebook page like people are currently doing on the Aldi fb page to good effect, Supermarkets do not like this sort of complaint on their fb pages:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4660007
Loads of threads here talk about this typical camera scam by PPCs, here's one:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/61652357#Comment_61652357
And by the way you do realise that these fake tickets are ALWAYS a scam even if you'd left the car parked sideways across two bays for 4 hours?! I am being jokey but these are not real parking tickets and you must NEVER pay one!
If the Co-op don't sort it out within a week, then send a short challenge to the PPC like you will read about on pretty much every other thread on this forum. Then you can win at POPLA stage (read threads about POPLA and only wrote that appeal with forum advice) but I would be surprised if you have to take it to that stage.
You won't be paying this so have a go at Co-op on facebook first and then storm into the store over the weekend waving the fake PCN and your receipts!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the reply.
The only problem i have is that i only bought drinks for £1,49 and food for £3.00 both times i shopped so didn't keep the recepts or even put it on my coop card.
On a positive note... I am supposed to be a coop shareholder because i spend £5k a year with them and have a card and even do my insurance through them so... As a shareholder, I will not be satisfied until they remove these cowboys from their car park and stop doing business with them!
Thanks for your advice!0 -

Doesn't matter, still complain about the harassment o a shareholder and regular customer who may have only spent cash that day but shops there often and spends more (at the moment...). But this fake PCN has annoyed you and you require it to be cancelled of course.
Do not discuss it with a 13 year old 'Duty Manager', ask ONLY for the overall Store Manager.
Oh and someone just reported getting their fake PCN cancelled by emailing a complaint to the CEO of Tesco, here you go:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/....php?t=4694547
So do something similar with the Co-op. Go straight to the top and get the stupid threat cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

So you should be, you can get a nasty paper cut from them if you're not careful.Je suis Charlie.0
