Bulk transfer from old Kindle to new Kindle?

Is this possible? I've just got a Kindle Fire because the screen on my old Kindle gave up the ghost, and I can't face re-downloading 1600 books one-by-one and having to put them into new folders. Can I use a USB to transfer my old Kindle contents to my PC hard drive and then drag + drop to my new one?

You don't need to transfer them they will be available on your new Kindle I had a similar experience when mine broke last October...0

You mean all the books will automatically re-download and automatically go into folders? Happy days if so

If they were bought from Amazon pretty much AFAIK.
Otherwise for future use Calibre is a wonderful little app for organising and transfering ebook collections:)0 -
Yes mine all downloaded, it took a while and some are still in the cloud, I have a Paperwhite 3g now. As Nilrem says Calibre is pretty good too for organising ebooks.0

Well that's just annoying - Kindle Fire has no collections functionality. You can buy an app called Collections which apparently has its own issues, or you can use Calibre which sounds very complicated. I guess I'm going to have to get rid of stuff I was keeping 'just in case' and hope that Amazon develops a software upgrade in the future which allows collections. If I'd known I'd have gone for another model."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Just synch the new device with your Amazon account. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Calibre isn't normally very complicated - although I must admit I've not used it much on amazon sourced ebooks for a kindle (I'm still using an early Sony ereader that's lasting surprisingly well)0
