Draught proofing sash windows.

A few of my sash windows have draught problems around them and also between the two sections when closed.
The cost to replace (£800 each) or even get them professionally draught proofed (£114 each) is prohibitive
I have googled draught proofing sash windows and several leads have shown up.
Can someone recommend an affordable DIY solution?
