Unemployed - Employed benefit entitlement help.

I have been unemployed for over two years now, but have been offered full time employment today as a shift manager in a pub.... I have recently split up with my partner and she has moved out with our 2 year old child. I rang to change my claim for JSA last week and have an appointment next tuesday to finalise this.... I'm just wondering what benefits I would be entitled too? I hear Housing Benefit can be paid for the first month, what else would I be entitled too? And would the fact my circumstances have recently changed so it's a new claim effect this?

Edited to add - I won't be starting job for around 3 weeks as it's not open yet.

Any help/advice would be appreciated, I have looked on direct gov but struggled to find anything. I also had a quick scan on here but I have my son so it's not easy

I think that your change of circumstances (the fact that your partner is now living separately with your son, the fact that you will have a salary etc) would certainly have an effect on any entitlement you may have.

Is there a Benefits Adviser at your local council?

Really looking forward to it, it's a Greene King 'Hungry Horse' that's opening a 10 minute walk from my house after a £1.5m refurbishment....

I'm just a bit confused as to what I'm entitled to, I'll ask at the job centre on Tuesday but my local JC are renowned for fobbing people off with any old lies so could do with getting a bit of info first :)
