Bank of Scotland creditcare

Sorry if this is a repeat post, I've had a look through and can't find anything on it. I recently put in a PPI claim through a company against Bank of Scotland for charges made to a "Preference Account" I had with them. We had the account for several years and had a large (ish anywhere between £1000 and £3000) outstanding balance on the card. Every so often we would refinance in an attempt to get our selves straight and pay off the outstanding balance.
After a couple of months of waiting for the PPI company to get back to me I have rung them this afternoon and they finally told me they have heard back from BOS who say that the payments made to the account on top of the monthly payments and interest were for "credit care" which is not PPI. My recollection of the original discussion is hazy, as it was over 13 years ago but I thought the payment was to cover the repayments if I was off sick, made redundant, or unable to meet the payments for any other reason. Is this not the same as PPI???
I would appreciate any advice on whether I can take this any further.
Regards
Andy
