You say recently, a few days ago, afew weeks???
Any spilt water would IMHO have appeared and disappeared within a day or so, everything id very absorbent in the ceiling void.
If it took longer than a day or so I'd say it's a definite leak. It will have picked up muck and plaster and any other old crap and also "reactivated" the emulsion, hence the change in colour.
If the decor below was done recently there is a good chance you can get away with a few coats of the same stuff by feathering out from the ceiling rose over a few coats.
You are likely to have to get the cowboy, as you describe him, back in your home, whether you want to or not.
Just make sure he covers any repair costs.
Another lesson to all I guess:cool:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Plastering and painting done 2 weeks ago. Bathroom done around the same time but its being used regularly since 1 week.
there are 2 yellow patches next to each other. One is appx 2inch x 2inch square ish and the other is slightly smaller. I noticed them just yesterday.
Spoke to the cowboy. He said he will have a look. There is more to life than increasing its speed.0 -
Mmm so it could be some impurities in the plaster leaching out because it may have been painted too quickly?Plastering and painting done 2 weeks ago.
So perhaps a bit premature to describe him in this manner even if he did spill some water during the install. It happens and doesn't make the person who suffers it a cowboy.Spoke to the cowboy.
Leaks don't normally manifest themselves as small squares.

That was the theory I mooted yesterday ...to be shot down almost instantly by phill99
We suffered in our hallway with spots of bleeding plaster showing through the paint...no water leak involved....
And moving forward, I suspect you may even start to see a few hairline cracks in your plaster too...not caused by poor workmanship simply small movements...these things happen when you renovate a house....but they are very easy to overcomefrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
