My partner and I have recently split in the last few days. I'm starting to try and get my finances in order. I will be going from a joint claim with tax credits to a single claim. My question is dies it take long to sort out and will payment stop for the time being that it needs sorted? Thanks in advance.

Hi
When I had to change my claim from Joint to single, I just rang the helpline to advise of my change of circumstances, as the payments were made into my bank account there was no interruption of payments.
Both parties will receive a cancellation of Joint claim, if there is any over payment, it will be split between both parties. Hope that helps.0 -
Hi there, thank you for your reply that's a bit of a relief:-)0

In some cases your payments can stop for up to three weeks while the new single claim is set up.No One I Think Is In My Tree.:cool:0
