LegionGroup Parking Ticket?

Hi there everyone, so glad I finally got a chance to sign up and ask help on an issue I am having - I really enjoy all the research I get from the community and I'm glad I can now be part of it.
I received a parking notice whilst in a job interview that unexpectedly went over the hour I paid for parking, I was gone for a good 48-50 minutes after the ticket had run out - but I had no idea an interview would take so long.
This happened in a car park known as Ocean Village in Southampton.
After receiving the ticket, I noticed that I am expected to pay a £50 charge for missing out on £1 worth of parking? A bit ludicrous if you ask me...
I then noticed that the ticket has been issued by a company called LegionGroup (A division of OCS Group UK Ltd) - I have done some research online and a lot of forum posters are saying to ignore anything they send, but I am still wary on whether to do so, especially considering that the fine bumps up to £90 if not paid within 14 days.
Anyone else heard of these before and know whether or not I have to pay this ridiculous amount of money?
Thanks for any help in advance!

Of course you don't have to pay it.
Was the litter stuck to your car? If so, do nothing until you get something in the post (which could take weeks) and then come back for more help.
Incidentally, it's not a fine, it is merely a speculative invoice.Je suis Charlie.0 -
My advice is Ignore everything if you are fully prepared to defend a spurious county court claim, some people like myself never give in to bullies with demands for money and will fight in court, have done and have defeated them .
Others do not have the stomach for this, this leaves two choices, pay up or ask how to use the POPLA appeal system.
POPLA are starting to warm to the notions that we have Laws in this country that we live by and charging illegal penalties is illegal and they should not assist companies with ignoring fundamental case law.Be happy...;)0 -

You are the only one here saying people should ignore these.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The ticket that explained the fine was attached to my car, just below where I had displayed my parking ticket.
There was no mention what so ever of the Council, which is why I am so suspicious on the matter.0 -

Do this, wait for the first postal notice then come back for advice on the appeals procedure that you can win. It is a private ticket, yes we have heard of 'Legion Group' and yes you can beat them at appeal - but DO NOTHING until you get the first letter as long as you are the registered keeper at the DVLA.PRIVATE 'PCN'? Right, well first off it's not a fine, it's an unenforceable speculative invoice. It has absolutely nothing to do with the council and everything to do with a bunch of lowlife chancers trying to fool you into handing over money to which they are not entitled.
What you do now is this: nothing. That is, you do nothing until they write to you (which is weeks away), and then you come back here and ask for further help.Je suis Charlie.0 -
This parking company used to be owned by the British Legion (think of old soldiers supervising parking on bomb sites) . Now it's owned by yet another faceless corporation who's only aim is to screw money out of people. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Spacey - why do you still offer "IGNORE" as your one and only solution to tickets? You have seen how many get kicked out because, when a decent defence based on their inadequacies, is submitted, the motorist wins a POPLA.
As you still are contributing on this column, you will have seen the explosion of court papers issued by Parking Eye and some other PPCs.
So why on earth would you advise people to ignore parking charges with the possibility of court appearing months down the line when you can get an adjudication at POPLA?0
