Hi all,
I am after good quality wooden dining table and 6 chairs. My budget is £1000 max. I've looked around Furniture village etc, they are soo expensive for what they are made of / look !!
Any ideas where I can get good quality solid set at a decent price?

If you want new then increase your budget. A good alternative is to go for quality secondhand.
Quality furniture should last for generations and I don't think £1000.00 is going to get you that.0 -
You will have difficulty. John Lewis do a Chiltern dining table, made from oak, which is quite nice. And you should get some wood chairs for under £500 from JL too. I would call them good quality. The other alternative is Oak Furniture Land. Good value, but I am not sure I would call them good quality. Very good for the money though, and better than stuff made from chipboard and veneer.
Alternatively, look on ebay. You see nice modern stuff going at half the shop price. The Ercol Factory Outlet is another option. Or buy old stuff from the 60's on ebay, and restore it. I restored an Ercol plank table from the 60's, and it looks like new.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -
Example 4 good quality chairs for £520:

Have you tried https://www.pinesolutions.co.uk ? Have bought (dining room table, chairs, sideboard, nested tables) lots of things from them, and have no complaints.0

I second this, I'd much prefer to buy quality secondhand compared to brand new crap
If you pick the right piece secondhand when the time comes to sell you won't be hugely out of pocket, you may even be up on the deal, buy some cheap furniture brand new and it will be next to worthless when you want try to get rid of it.0 -
