Won't come out of sleep mode

Hi a quick question. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 531 Windows Vista home Basic. Yesterday my computer wouldn't come out of sleep mode. I moved the mouse repeatedly but nothing. So I forced it to shut down and then it did some updates. The rest of the day it was fine. This morning it was slower than usual but it did come out of sleep mode.

Has anyone else had this problem? I have switched off the sleep mode and turn display off so it just shows the screensaver.

Thanks.

  • I have had this too after over night updates. So I presume that there is a glitch automatically applying updates and then automatically putting the PC back into sleep mode.

As I use the handy sleep button on the PC, it is not possible to use hibinate.
