How do I challenge a low valuation of my car by insurer
Options
My insurance has agreed to settle for the theft of my car. A 2008 Audit A4 Saloon. The value i received from many free valuation websites for the car based on specs is between 8,200 - 8,500 GBP for the car. A friend of mine just told me that from his personal experience, the insurance companies will always under value the car to compensate for a lower amount.
How do I challenge them if their valuation comes back very low . Any ideas please ?
Many thanks

Find some for sale ads with same spec and similar mileage, also if it's had any recent work done show them the receipts to squeeze a bit more.0

covers pretty much all you need to know. You should get the retail/dealer figure0 -
Many thanks- very useful0

I wouldn't necessarily worry too much about this -- on both the occasions I've needed to claim, they've offered a figure on the high side of what the car was worth.0

I've only once received a high valuation. Most of the time you get screwed over by a grand or so.
A grand is also about what you get from a typical whiplash claim, just sayin.
(Obviously doesn't apply here as this is a theft claim)0 -
you old cynic0

Now you realise why others that have done it before and lost out develop whiplash.Be happy...;)0

I believe the whiplash is caused by reading the letter containing the low valuation. Another common aliment is jaw drop syndrome followed by gob smackitus.0

Just to report back that they juat came back with a valuation of 8350 GBP which i believe is bad.
Thanks for all you thoughts and advice. This is a lovely community !0
