Anyone Else Think Saga Insurance Is A Rip Off?

My father recently died and my poor mum has been left to deal with things she's never had to before. I've been helping her reduce her outgoings and was astounded at the cost of her Saga contents insurance. I thought they represented the over 50s in a way that recognised they are older (and less of a risk) and so want to protect their customers by offering them good deals. She was paying £234 pa! And was being charged for the privilege of paying by direct debits. When I looked around I found an equivalent from Barclays for £90. So I changed it for her (via quidco!) and cancelled Saga and can you believe they are charging her an early cancellation fee! What a CHEEK! She's been with them for about 7 years too! Does anyone have any experience of these unscrupulous people and who could advise me on how best to tackle this because my mum can't afford to pay them this rip off charge (nor can we find evidence of this charge on the insurance paperwork).
Thank you,
