Private equity deals

Hi all,
Just curious if any of you have experience with private equity deals, ie getting an investment in shares prior the IPO?
I have gathered some info and would like to discuss with any experience on the field.
The basic idea is to be a funder of early stage corporations, a few as an investment, a few thousand dollars per corp, and if IPO is reached cash in a lot of percentage. Yes, risk is a bit higher, but the ones who are successful makes a ridiculous amount of money.
Small stakes, large profit if the product is good enough.
Anyone have experience?
Cheers,
Eric

Sounds like boiler room talk to me - I'm sure there is someone who knows of a great opportunity to get into an IPO early. The shares are bound to rocket blah, blah, blah, we can get into the shares at 30c and they are being floated at $2.
Next it will be message me off line, high pressure phone calls and wire the money to some account in Spain, Argentina, Canada.

Hoodless and Brenan have a private equity service. I subscribed to it a couple of month ago but they havn't offered anything yet. Wonder what they are doing.
I agree, some people make a lot of money out of this deal, but it's very risky. The company mightnever quote and you are stuck.0 -
mroller,
is it hoodlessbrennan.com you are referring to? I will take a look, thanks!

yes it is.
I have just checked, they no longer call it private equity but Venture Funding.0 -
Mroller,
Yes, Private equity is about venture funding. It is very hard to be in the game (if one wants to) without several millions at hand. Higher risk, but that is the fun part, laying off a few thousand, exciting. First save, make some extra, work hard, then.., maybe, much more fun than lotteries... :-)
Thanks,

Enterprise Investment Schemes, VCTs and private equity investment trusts are all ways for the private investor to get access to private equity - you don't need £millions...the first two offer tax reliefs as well but are considerably more risky than the last.0
