got just a new dell dimension 3000.Any one know can you only get the printer cartridges direct from dell or would there be any compatible ones ?

This printer, I believe, is a re-branded Lexmark. However, Dell printers are specifically manufactured in such a way that would prevent them from taking any, other than Dell, cartridges. Some web sites list a hack, which would enable 922 to take Lexmark cartridges, but the costs seem to be prohibitive.
There are couple of places that do refills, but I have no idea as to how good or reliable they are.
