Student rental help

Dd and friends vacated property. Thorough cleaning undertaken by agents and tenants. Landlords final inspection states whole property needs cleaning at a cost f £350.
Research shows that they use a cleaning co to clean their whole portfolio of properties at the end of the tenancy, but no mention of this is made in the lease.
Think lease s deficient as surely tenants should be advised if this will happen particularly as the cost is taken from their deposit. We also know Contractors visited the property the day students moved out so believe they may be responsible for some of the alleged deficits - dust/ crumbs.
Any idea how to fight this/ reduce the cost please?

"Thorough cleaning undertaken by agents and tenants."
?I am a LandLord,(under review) so there!:p0 -
if the "lease" did what you suggest it would be deemed an unfair contract since it imposes a charge for a service that may not be necessary if the cleaning was done by the tenants
do you understand how end of rental check outs work?
your DD is the tenant, she should find out who the deposit is registered with and lodge a dispute with the scheme on the grounds she contests the accuracy of the check out inspection
she (or at least one of the other tenants) was at the check out and signed the inventory to agree with it ?????????0 -
Parents and tenants did the clean!
All tenants left at different times. Agents undertook inspection day after last one left.
Cleaning Co report states items like light clean (Hoover/dust). I really believe its a con as it appears from the invoice charged to the tenants last year that the end of tenancy clean is completed a couple of weeks before new ones move in!
Thanks for your help.0 -
lodge a dispute, say the work is unneccessary. Probably trying their luck0
