Dla about to run out and cannot renew motability

Hi all,
My partners DLA is going to run out in December, she gets higher motability and lower care. Her motability car runs out in September and she cannot renew it as she only has 5 months on her DLA and minimum of 12 months is required. She has rheumatoid arthritis in her neck knees and back and given her condition it has only deteriorated since she was awarded dla around 3years ago. Usually at least 6 months prior to the DLA running out it has been renewed without us filling anything in.
So we have phoned DLA and they said it will be reviewed around 3 month before it ends but this means we will be without a car and this is concerning us highly as she struggles to go anywhere by foot on a bad day which are highly common and cannot travel far on any day. Can anyone advise me as what I can do as we are extremely worried.
Many thank,
Kevin

I'm glad you know her condition enough to be able to comment like that. Seen as you have RA I though you would be aware of the difference in serverity she is 24 and already had he kneecaps replaced and the Catrlidge in her elbows has been damaged so bad when she wakes sometimes if her arm stretches out at night it locks and the Catrlidge sticks. So I do hope you are happy with your comment.0 -
Have you asked motability whether they will extend the lease until your DLA renews although it will not be DLA now it will be PIP. That is one possible solution, but the easiest one is to get a car that will tide you over until the PIP situation is sorted out. Does not have to be fancy or very new - just needs to be MOT'd insured and taxed for 6 months so that your partner can get around.0

It sounds as if they'll be reviewing the DLA around the same time as the Motability car runs out (both in September) so, with any luck, you'll only be without a car for a couple of weeks.0
