Good Evening :hello:
Hi Piquant - thanks so much for dropping in, especially since you are so busy at the moment. Mmmm, I was wondering whether my meals were starting to get a bit carb heavy? Sorry to of done that to you, I'll try to start incorporating more veg....:)A quick wee pasta dish?
Im going to try pasta with cauliflower & broccoli & a white sauce.
We shall see :rotfl:
Beanie - thanks for the suggestion - I went with a quick curry in the end, as I had runner beans from the gardening parental that needed using up. So how was your dinner anyway - as good as it sounds?
Upsidedown Bear - I was glad you asked what I was thinking
I'm claiming another NSD and another AF day today :jMust remember to update siggie.
Today has whizzed by and this evening is in danger of going in the same direction. We had the 'Wheel Tappers & Shunters' sub-committee No. 5 meeting. The meeting convened with 2 members present. There were 5 items on the agenda. 1 requires further investigation by DP, 1 remains a bit of a sticky subject and no agreement was reached for a solution (circumstances beyond our control) and 3 items were discussed/resolved/actioned as appropriate. Seems to be working this 'communication' malarkey :T
So, dinner this evening was runner bean curry, dhal and rice. A photo is here....
I added in some finely julienned carrots and a teeny bit of spinach into the curry, just to make it a little more interesting. I used all of the runner beans the gardening parental donated, except for 3 that really had gotten too past it for cooking. Shoe sole repairs, yes. Cooking, no. The gardening parental doesn't really cook (can, but doesn't) and it came flooding back to me why I don't really like runner beans.... When I was a child there wasn't much money in our household. Veggies were grown to support the household budget and had to be eaten - tough or no _pale_ Plus in ye olden days, and you young 'uns won't know about this, but it was the law to boil all vegetables for a minimum of 1 hour on week days, 2 on Sundays. If a veg wasn't grey, it had to be returned to the pan
Runner beans didn't thrive with this treatment, and I haven't really liked them since..... (although I did try growing a few when I had the allotment - picked them young and steamed them - a much better result).
You're right, I've made this dish before and told you about it, so if you'd like the link to the recipe, take a look at post #477.
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
that I don't need 'status' symbols - I've encountered two (very different) people today, who were 'packaged' in such a way that sent out a very clear message as to what you were supposed to think about them - respectively 'considerably wealthier and more successful than you*' and 'hard, so be afraid, very afraid'. What pish.........:rotfl:
for simplicity - a few vegetables thrown together, with a serving of pulses and of grains made a meal. A feast in some eyes.
for communication and teamwork - whether in the home or workplace these are invaluable. Life is so much easier when they 'just flow' ..........
* the 'you' is anyone, it wasn't personal.....
Thank you for dropping by, reading and commenting on this diary. I greatly appreciate it.
See y'all later.

Hey up everyone and dearest Greying too.
Beanie I hate teas like that which are disappointing - we had one last night - should have been ace but was just meh. Feel like you've been robbed of a tea when they're like that!
Greying sounds like communication is going goodI am of an age to remember the boiling of the vegetables like old socks.
In fact I remember mither boiling old socks!
PS I wonder if packaged folks can be returned? Complete in their packaging.
Loved the look of your dinner - we had pizza rice. Not very exciting but very tasty.

As ever dear Pippi you have got to the crux of the matter - what a brilliant idea!
Well, today will be a spend day, as it is TV listings day (come round quick hasn't it?) and I need some eggs. We do also need milk, but neither of us will be near Ald* so that may require some thought.
Dinner this evening will be a Buddha bowl - yay! haven't had one of those for a while have we? :rotfl:
Snap bags are packed up. Breakfast has been scoffed, so I'd better get up and at 'em. One downside of not getting milk today will be i'll run out of yoghurtAh, well. Not the end of the world I guess.
Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. It is appreciated, by me.
See y'all later.

Yay to Buddha bowls:D we are big fans of bowls of Use Ups in our house...just whatever is in the fridge really, odds and ends and leftovers, piled on a plate..but much less artistically arranged than your bowls
It's not a dissimilar idea.
We are having a huge veggie lasagne this eve with plenty left over for the freezer.. Off to scrub veggies when kids have gone to school and OH makes me a cup of tea:)

Good evening :hello:
Hi Brizzle - lovely of you to drop in. Yes - a posh name for leftovers, you're quite right....:D But looks a darn sight more appealing and cosmopolitan on your menu planner - for when the gas man is in your kitchen - than 'leftovers'.:rotfl:
Lovely day again today. Another one of those 'no triumph, no tragedy' type days, but no complaints from me.
Y'all be thrilled to know that half the cast of Emm3rdale are on the front cover of the TV guide, with the entire plot given away for next weeks episodes inside, I've no doubt.
So today was a spendy day, milk, bananas, eggs. I also bought some 'fizzy pop' (ginger beer, dandy&B'dock and T1zer) for us to have whilst watching the England footy match on Friday. We might of ordinarily had a beer, so I got soft drinks instead. Can anyone remember whether T1zer used to be red? (it's in a can, so I can't tell). Total cost £1.60 (h0me bArginz). Far cheaper than ale
I also splashed out a whole £2 on a metal water bottle and a usb charger port for in-car use from £land. The water bottle appears to be as good as any I've seen in outdoor shops and will stop us having to buy bottled water, in plastic bottles, for picnics/holidays. I have however changed the 'key ring' ring on it to one that is more robust - that was in my sewing box and cost £0
So, can't claim a NSD today, but hoping that is it now until into the weekend (and possibly beyond)Today has been AF, so must update siggie.
Dinner this evening was [STRIKE]leftovers[/STRIKE] a Buddha bowl. It's constituent parts were; millet, sweetcorn, leeks, carrot, green beans (sliced) an omelette and sauce based on the Ethiopian lentil recipe that I made a few nights ago - but obviously a thinner version. Picture here
We also both added a dollop of 'Harissa' on top when we started to eat it (not pictured). The leeks and sweetcorn were donated by the gardening parental and our friends, respectively. Tasty, reasonably cheap and easy to put together.
Today I am grateful for these 3 things;
the internet - I have just learnt how to 'walk'. Who knew? I've been getting it wrong for the last XX years, marvellous thing technology.......:rotfl:Mind you, if it works, it'll tone me 'glutes' up smashing
for good service - the gal on the checkout in a$da took the trouble to wipe the condensation off the milk carton. It's never happened before, but I was grateful and thanked her(which in turn threw her off her stride. Perhaps they don't get much thanks.........)
for 'affordable' reuseables - I've been wanting a reuseable water bottle for an age, but they were always so expensive. For the cost of 2 plastic bottles, I've now got one that could last years......:D For that, I am grateful and :j (um, easily pleased?)
Right, I'm away to make yoghurt, as I managed to get milk today - for the same price as Ald* charge.
Thank you so much for dropping by, reading and commenting. I remain appreciative.
See y'all later.

Affordable reusables are not to be taken lightly - of course you'll be happy.
I got offered bags of apples today and went all giddy.

Good Morning :hello:
Oh my Pippi, 2 bags of apples.... giddy inducing indeed!
Well, today will be a NSD. I'm not going to take my purse out and we need nothing. It will be AF too, but that's entirely normal - still we're edging to 1/3rd of the way through the month and I've my eyes firmly set on the money that's been saved and what alternative use it can be put towards
Dinner this evening will be harira (a soup from Morocco, but I'm doing a veggie version). I've made it before. The chickpeas have soaked overnight, so they'll be good to go in the pressure cooker and then in the stew. Won't take long to prepare tonight.
Edit: forgot to add. I made yoghurt last night, using 'starter' from a previous batch of HM yoghurt. Never done that before, always used 'shop-bought' yoghurt as a starter. It worked fineand tasted lovely
Best get up and at 'em.
Thanks for swinging by, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

'fraid I'm having a seriously CBA'd evening. No idea why - everything is A OK. No probs.
I can legitimately claim another NSD and an AF day, so have already updated my siggie - so there is even a silver lining to the day
Thanks for popping by and reading. It is appreciated.
