    Hello there Greying :)

Liking the look of your stew, and have to say with all the millions of beans I stocked up on, and the dire state of my grocery bill this month (see sig :o) I may well be utilising it. Have to say yours 'looks' nicer than the blogs pic ;) no slight intended to blog poster should they be lurking. Think your camera work is a bit swish ;)

I have a broccoli in the fridge which has once again got a slightly sad looking yellowish head on it. Think I will slice it up, boil it with some green beans and frozen peas for a few minutes and then stir fry it in some sesame oil and soy sauce. No one will ever know.. :D I shouldn't buy them really. I am very bad at doing the traditional veg servings with dinners. It all goes into the dish, and thus broccoli does not go well!

Thought of you earlier on, when viewing H U K D. Mr L have lots of veggies on offer at 39p from today, including a whole head of cauli and other friends... I have to say I was very happy when my parsnip, swede, and green beans from there actually smelled and tasted as they should! Find supermarket veggies all too often lose their flavour due to processing.

Will be in there myself tomorrow morning... to add to the grocery bill woes ;) xx

  • Thanks YOUNG lady.

I can't seem to find cauli's under a quid at the mo, but I need to look harder, after all its cauli time.

I'll mind on the tips there

Frozen beans/peas/corn - valoo ok but next brand up often a bit nicer.
    Ic£land Ok if I'm there and have a voucher/offer
Mr Al cheapest for the mix you talked about.

I'll look and maybe get some to try. I'm always concerned about the 'moosh' factor but do buy peas/corn and I don't mind the others frozen just like you say nicer fresh if can get on offer.

Next year I will grow some of course but this season the garden pickings are slim, lazy headgardener here. Although the cabbages that we'ren't ravaged by flutterbyes are not bad.

I'm listening to a bit of Billy Idol the now, saw him in concert after a bad bike accident (him not me) man I am showing me age.

Thanks for the reply Dear Heart most useful :) I'll crack this mainland shopping lark sometime. Probably just in time for the garden to go into over production :)

    Have a lovely evening.

ETA LiltdL - thanks for the heads up re Mr L.

    Good Morning :hello:

Ha! Pipster - I am nothing if not eclectic in my music choice - I was singing a (version) of a 'Bay City Rollas' toon to himself last night, so not so young................... :rotfl:

Lilt - I hadn't heard that about MrL - ta for the headsup on that one. Will have to see if I can somehow incorporate a whizz round to see what's in stock. Edit: Mmm, I'm not really au fait with H D U K's site, but I could only find cucumbers and cherry toms for 39p (from 6th October ->) in L1dl Northern Ireland (L1dl NI) - and L1dl had caulis for 59p (a good price) for the rest of the UK - have I got to the right page? EditII: Yep, it's Northern Ireland that have the 39p deals on celery, cucumbers and tomatoes for a week, alongside 49p for some potatoes, according to the NI L1dl page. The rest of the uk has cauli 59p and Iceberg lettuce 35p, pear £1 a bag, Potatoes £1 for 2.5kg.

Dinner this evening may well be up in the air - nope, we've not won a hot-air ballon trip, I've just noticed that rice is on the planner 3 days on the trot........... so much for Greying's menu planning! :rotfl:

I'll get the TV mag today, and we need milk, so not going after a NSD today.

Thanks for popping in, reading and joining in. I now have that BCR's tune as an ear worm.............. :rotfl:

    See y'all later.

*face palms* - Mr L had cauli for 59p today. I did indeed partake of one, better not let it get to the same state as the broccoli mind. I got the potatoes too and can vouch for them. A baked potato with my dinner was beautiful, light skin, no scrubbing required. Delicious flavour and texture.

I have turned off those H U K D alerts as they are driving me bonkers. And are not always accurate. Will continue to check the Mr L website and the instore catalogue. Sorry for the misinformation. The H U K D post was edited today ^.^

Dinner was meat free!! :T stir fried broccoli, green beans and peas, in sesame oil and soya. Lovely! With a jacket spud and honey roasted carrots (which were a bit overcooked as I showered, and so were more coated in bonfire toffee than honey! :o) and a touch of cheese. Very nice too. Would usually have done a chicken breast or something with such a meal but did not miss it a bit!

Hope you are well GP! xx

  • Hello peeps! Well, bay city rollers, stereo mcs, you are a woman of substance Greying! I love both of them! Now I shAll have worms in my head too.......

I've been hunkering down the last few days but have been lurking. Nice to see that everyone is happy! The quote of the day comes from a year ten giving a definition of the Virgin Birth. "God gave birth to himself without having to do the sex with himself." Not quite what I was looking for!

I have a car literally full to the brim with cardboard boxes as I've organised an immersion day for the whole of year seven. 150 pupils all mAking and sticking and creating things to do with first century Palestine. Wish me luck! After all, what could possibly.go wrong??

Does anyone out there have a dog? Would like to get a yorkie but am cautious...... your words of wisdom would.be.welcomed!!

    Love to you all xxxxxx
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!
