I love Wendy houses on wheels and motorhomes! When I retire I'm going to tour Europe! Twelve years to go until the magic sixty!!
Hopefuljoy, you're going to manage to retire at 60 still? Do tell! I'm going to try to do it within a couple of years of that figure, but I'm turning things inside out to do it ...

Greying, you posted *early* for a Saturday - hope all the jobs are geting ticked :)

  • Thanks for the recipe GP!!

Porridge oats, to blitz up a bit or not?? :D

All this talk of campervans... I can't drive but my brother has a huge brand spanker static caravan in Newquay which is absolutely beautiful, so I must take advantage next year. It is stuck in one place however... :) but right next to the wi-fi on the campsite! And walking distance to most of the sights.

Speaking of jobs getting ticked.... must move!

  • Hi there!! On the retirement front query...... My official teaching retirement age is sixty five as I joined so late. But I told my DD about life expectancies after a presentation at work and she was suitably shocked!! On average teachers retiring at 60 live for another 27 years. :j Big smiles all round!! Teachers retiring at 65 live on average for EIGHTEEN MONTHS!!! :(

I will downsize if needed to a nice ground floor flat but I'm going at sixty!!! This is why I'm so keen on frugal living now. I've challenged myself to pay off the mortgage by 58 so I'll have two years of saving left. :T

It might not come off entirely but the sixty is fixed. It'll seriously affect my pension but if I can get the motor home I shall be one very happy bunny!!:rotfl:
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

Have been catching up - this thread always makes my tummy rumble.

Hugs to you GP and all that need them. People can be so frustrating - it's not always about what looks good on the face of it  and you aren't thinking about yourself (unlike them) :(

I will be popping in a lot this month as SuperDave is needed at supersaver heights this month. :rotfl:

Good luck with the retirement plans ladies, rooting for you. I was lucky I scraped by on the old system by a few months, I had not intended to retire, but the company I worked for was struggling, so I claimed my pension and the whole thing folded when I was just short of 61. I gave myself a year off and then intended looking for another job, then we decided to move back to the Midlands and by that time I found we were OK without the money, so that was great. I thought that OH and I might commit murder:rotfl:, but he is out cycling 3 days and I do things on a couple of other days, so it works pretty well:)

    Little_sweetie have a great time:)

BMOT+D I can still get plums for 50p lb, but I have run out of jars:(might freeze some for crumbles though.

Plum sponge cake - yum! Would it work with damsons?? Recipe please:D Or any other damson orientated recipe (other than jam and chutney) as our very old tree is creaking under the weight - branches down to the ground and fruit is just dropping off - cant pick it fast enough!!

I halved and stoned plums and laid them on bottom of tin. Covered them with Victoria sponge mix.( weigh eggs, add same quantity of butter, sugar & flour with tsp bicarbonate soda and whisk), bung in the oven, jobs a good un! I suppose it could be served warm with ice cream or custard... Does need to go in a bowl cos it will have soggy bottom lol! :rotfl:
