  • Hello Greying and chums!

Wishus- I am so sorry you had to leave teaching. Bullying a fellow human is totally despicable and I hope you are happy now.

Greying - I have just.gone through Jack's book and marked all the possibles. I do remember your week of Jack last year. I followed avidly! I have made an early New year's resolution to plan meals and am trawling my recipe books before going back to work this coming Wednesday. Her book is well worth getting from the library to have a peruse.

My father's birthday meal venue is not as exotic as usual. However, they know us well (too well) and are consistent and friendly - the Cafeee @ouge!! They have a great voucher deal at the moment and he is insisting on paying to treat us all. It gives him great pleasure to have his family around him and to return our gifts on his special day.

You are forging ahead with your DIY Greying. I am impressed and not a little jealous. But then I have only myself to blame for my own inactivity! I a waiting for the official quote for the roof and need to get it done before the winter storms. So the bathroom will be deferred again, the joys of home ownership!

Have a lovely Saturday everyone. I hope all your NT day trips go well and the sun shines upon you all!
With family, friends and pets (or any combination of them) life will be fine!

    Good Morning :hello:

    **Gratuitous Food Shots**

Cheese and tomato pizza. The tomatoes are the left over ones from mrM YS'd punnet, so about 25p's worth. The potaotes are from a 55p bag of 'harmony' potatoes (2.5kg) bought in HB. Just as a matter of interest, I checked out the frozen chips/wedges in M&$, just in case HB had no potatoes. Fair do's, their products were from the 'best' chipping potatoes (maris piper), but a 1kg bag ranged from £1.70 to £2.00. Just shows about manufacturers 'adding value' to the humble raw ingredient eh? Plus I've still tatties left for another dish :D

NT plum crumble. I'm not sure of the variety - they were a very light violet/golden plum, anyone any idea? They cooked down well, and the juice went light pink. Delicious 'plum' taste. Even though I added no (sweet) spices, I kept on thinking 'Christmas' as I ate - no idea why...... :rotfl: And mothernerd - I too often throw a handful of oats into my crumble mix - but in this instance, I was prompted by you mentioning them. So THANK YOU :D

    Back in a mo.

  • Hello Again, Hello :hello: (ND fans will get that one ;))

Right, so we're at the weekend :j

Looks like we've lots of itty bitty bits to get on with. I was rather hoping that we could shoe-horn in a visit/walk or cycle ride, but DP isn't as keen. Plus there is the ruddy motorcycling on tomorrow afternoon, and because we have it on BeeTee on the 'puter, you can't record it :( Normally DP is happy to watch the 'catch up' on Monday's, but a) it's the brit GP and b) BT didn't load up the Czech race until days later last time :( So, that is Sunday ruined as we'll be tied to the homestead :(

INOD - I can cope with domestic chucks, as they don't fly about so much, but I couldn't enter a pigeon loft........ *shudders*

Hopefuljoy - its great that you'll have the birthday bash at somewhere you know well - you'll have a great time :D Oh, and don't be too envious of our decorating endeavours, we've taken years to get to this point, it is only one room (now most of the rest of the house to do ) and we're not going to reach our target of being able to move by 30th November this year :( But we are closer to it, than we would have been had we not made the resolution. Currently, we yet again find ourselves waiting on a trade. Hope they are on hols, rather than ignoring us........

Dinner this evening will be 'something' with rice. There is a strong possibility that rice will feature both days :o

If I shift a tail-feather I could construct my shopping list for next month's groceries - from my meal plan, then could employ DP to carry the heavy stuff :D Mind, that would make today a spend day, but we definitely need UHT milk for the FB donation, and I could do with taking that over on Monday, as we'll be back to normal and all.

Better get a move on, daylight is burning and we've mucho, mucho to do....... not a lot that I want to do, but still mucho,mucho.... :rotfl:

Thank you for dropping by, reading and joining in. Greatly appreciated, as always, by me :D

    See y'all later.

Good morning Greying and friends. The pizza looks so yummy, must put one on the plan for next week. I found a goodly amount of hedgerow damsons recently, by found I mean that I knew they were there, but thought once ripe someone who lived nearer to them would have pounced, apparently no damson lovers in that area, so over 3 days picked 2-3 kg, 1 bought a pound off the market for the reduced price of £3 as they were the last 2 punnets and then a friend offered me another 1kg, so 2 jam sessions down 2 to go. As my maslin pan is aluminium I am reluctant to use it nowadays so limited by the capacity of my ss pressure cooker pan. I also have my first ever batch of damson gin on the go, fingers crossed it works out ok:)

So pleased that all your (and DP's) hard work is paying off, I hope that it brings you at least one step nearer to your goal. Have a lovely weekend:)
