Yea, I've been okay ta Greying xx Things have been busy and I'm trying to get into a flow of saving at the mo. I think I got into too many diaries and threads too and started to lose track of myself tad :p

Off to unsubscribe from some threads (not this one though!) and having a general internet declutter :)

  • Hi Greying, re sprouting, definitely give it a go - I do aduki, mung bean and chickpea sprouts - I tend to do them at the end of summer when there's not so much stuff growing in the garden to eek out the salads. Don't be put off - I use an old large pickled onion jar - no idea what size but could measure in litres for you. An old pair of clean, whatever DD and I have with ladders in, pop socks, tights, stockings etc - plus elastic band.

Rinse regularly but I don't remove the nylon, just wash through, empty and lie on its side. Can't remember why I lie on its side, but I do, will need to check why.

However if you are looking to keep costs down then definitely have a go.

    Good Morning :hello:

Beanie - I hope that your *shoogly-ness* has shuffed off and you're getting better. Although given the hours you are keeping elsewhere, I hope that you've not been in pain?

shortie - I'm glad you are staying, but know that it can get a bit time-consuming following diaries. And I do waffle on............. :D

Tilly - thank you for your encouragement :D I will look into it. As I do know that the nutrition of sprouted seeds is higher than just eating the beans cooked. I haven't currently got the MSE version :money: of a sprouting kit to hand, and I know that I'd laugh at myself if I purchased some of those *sprouting kits* that you can buy in shops. So, consider my interest piqued. Thank you :D

I did make bread dough last night, and it has risen in the fridge overnight. I will be making bread rolls later this afternoon, along with pizza and wedges for dinner. The wedges will use up the last of the tatties I got last weekend for wedges, with the pizza that failed to perform :D The others have been utilised for snap baked tatties :D

I will be aiming for a NSD today :Dfamous last words from Greying.......

Right, I'm running late, but everything is set to go, and I'd best follow it :D

Thanks for popping in, reading and commenting. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

Greying - you can use any old glass jar (or clear plastic) or even bowl with something like a bit of muslin stretched over the top and held with an elastic band. Or even cling film with holes in. You just need something that will stop the sprouts completely drying out from evaporation, but let air circulate. You can then rinse through a sieve.

Or keep an eye out in charity shops for sprouting jars, or even better the stacking sprouting trays :)

    Good Evening :hello:

Just a quickie from me, as we are in the middle of a 'Chelsea Flower show catch-up fest' :D

Thank you for all the sprouting suggestions. I will reply properly tomorrow - you have all got me thinking. Which means questions :D

    Dinner this evening was black olive pizza, wedges & rocket, balsamic and walnut salad. I uploaded the pic in a different way - so here is hoping I don't skew the thread out. And sorry for the pic quality, but the light levels were dire and I was holding the camera, rather than using a tripod :o;

    See y'all later.

That's one impressive looking pizza :)

    Now I'm hungry.

Have a soooooooooooooooper weekend me dear.
And put that measuring tape away.

I caught up on Chelsea last night - never been but we're hatching a plan to attend next year. I often go to the 'northern version'. However, this year we might get the keys to wur new hoose the same weekend. So's we might not be attending. Which is busy enough for me, I have to say I don't know how I'd cope with the crowds at 'Chelsea south'.

I have been known to take large plants home on the plane :D well in my pre MSE days anyway.
