Good Evening :hello:

    I hope you have all had a brilliant day - whether you are still on hols, or whether you are back to the grindstone - or, indeed, if you have never been away :D

    Today I have bagged another NSD :j We had dinner off the planner, so all is well in my world :D

    Dinner was Cocido - well, a veggie version of it - which is Spanish in origin, and the authentic version is vegetables and chickpeas cooked up with just about every part of the pig except the oink! I've made this dish before, and talked about it - if you would like to make it yourself, please take a peek over at this gal's BLOG for the recipe I use. A very blotchy pic of our dinner, taken on my phone, can be found here;

    IMG10030_zps1742f7b7.jpg

    I was a little heavy-handed with the sweet paprika - so yes, it really was that red :rotfl: It was also an opportunity to use up veg - including more swede :j But I have to say, just like sometimes scotch broth, or hotpot or cawl hits the spot, this stew was brilliant - soothing, comforting and yet it felt good to be eating simple vegetables again :D

    We had an impromptu meeting of 'sub-committee No. 5' - hence why I am late posting. All's good, although we are beginning to wonder whether a friendship of ours has run it's natural course. Our friends seem to want to schedule us into timed slots of their choosing - whilst seemingly spending 'days' of their life with other (clearly more financially endowed) friends........ Not too sure I like being 'scheduled'...........:cool: Anyway, we've decided to crack on with mission 'Escape from Greying Towers' and see if they notice we've not been in contact.......

    Anyway, I'm away to update my NSD.

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for sunshine - it was lovely to walk about in sunshine today, and yes, I did actively enjoy it, as who knows what the weather has in store for us.......

    for a partner I can discuss issues with, including finance and friendships - it's not always been the case, so I am truly grateful, and know it is an uphill struggle without your OH 'onside'.

    for buskers - particularly good ones, like the one on the street today, who played his guitar well and sang beautifully. He put a smile on more than a few faces :D

    Thanks for dropping by and reading. I greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

    Aw, I'm glad you've got DP to plot and plan with, especially if its tricky with some of your friendships. Hasn't the sunshine been lovely? I swore I'd go for a walk, but I wanted to collect a Click and Collect parcel first, so I spent most of the sunshine standing about on rail platforms - still got sunshine on my face though, it was nice.

    I've been a bit nose-to-the-grindstone still though - "working" on a post for the website about Breakfast at Tiffany's :T its not exactly coalmining :D to sit and watch Audrey Hepburn and prattle onto the computer :D

    Sorry you lost a big long post yesterday, by the way - would it help to write the longer posts in Word, unconnected with your browser?

    Good Evening :hello:

    Well, what a day - went with a bit of a whoosh I think..... :D

    I can claim a NSD - so I have :D And we had another meal off the planner, albeit, it was actually pencilled in for another night. However, I had all the constituent ingredients in for this dinner, and as I have not yet done the grocery shop, it seemed wisest to stick with something that I had all the ingredients for. Also, it meant that I could make cake for snap - so looking to the ingredients that I had, I made a cake that I have not made before, but that may be familiar to some of you..... broonie. And no, I've not made a spelling error and I don't mean those squidgy cakey slices said to of originated in the US :D

    Dinner this evening was Jack's 9p burgers in a HM bread bap, with a cheese slice (bought when discounted in L*dl and frozen separately) and some HM beetroot chutney (not made by me :D), HM wedges and some dill pickle. And yes, I know that I've just divided you all by the inclusion of dill pickles - but humour me - it was our dinner :D:D So, without further ado, my homage to American cuisine, as imagined by Wimpy Bars, circa 1974 (and I know that I've lost y'all at this point - Wimpy what???? :rotfl:) is pictured here;

    132_zpsbbc88589.jpg

    If you'd like to make Jack's 9p burgers, take a look at her blog post HERE Oh, and can I just say that the bap was HM by me, even I think it looks 'shop bought' in the shot :rotfl:

    So, I'm rushing, because I don't want to lose this post :(

    Today I am grateful for these 3 things;

    for the NHS and the concept of 'free at the point of treatment, for all' - a junior member of the Greying clan has recently benefitted from superb treatment - may we never sleep walk into the US style of healthcare.......

    for sufficient - although this evening it was more than enough for me, I was stuffed and then some (won't need to eat for a week! :rotfl:)

    for inspiration - once again it was a library book that inspired, but a blog that eventually provided the recipe - remind me to put up a picture of the broonie tomorrow :D

    Thanks for popping by, reading and joining in. I continue to greatly appreciate it.

    See y'all later.

    I'm trying this post out as a test. I'm getting worried that the problem that Windows has with MSE, which keeps on causing it to close the window – which can lose my post if I've been 'logged out' by MSE –means that I am actually not writing the diary that I want to. If I cannot write the diary posts that I want to – then what is the point of keeping this diary going? I started doing the photos of dinner on a whim. People very kindly mentioned that they liked to see them, and it does help me to focus on making frugal vegetarian fare that is interesting both to look at and to eat. But, as I am sure you can appreciate, uploading the pics and finding the website links for the recipes takes time. Time I don't normally mind investing, but then to have the post lost at the end of all that investment.........

    However,the primary purpose of me keeping this diary – any diary – is to keep my motivation of maintaining an extremely tight budget to achieve the goal of moving house this year. Most DFD stalwarts heartily agree that keeping a diary and the support of fellow DFW/MSE'rs has been pivotal in them achieving their aims. I want to keep going, but the fear of losing each post is beginning to play heavily on my mind each time I click on 'Go Advanced' and I know that my writing 'voice' has changed :(

    So,this is a post written in open office, and if I can transfer it to MSE, load pics into it and generally do everything else that I used to be able to do directly into the posting window at the end of the diary thread, then I shall be happy to continue. If it doesn't work, or Windows still plays up..... well, then I'm beginning to be stuck for ideas.

    I mentioned baking 'Broonie' – or the Orcadian version of Gingerbread. Hopefully, if this works, a picture will appear here;

    141_zps384ed704.jpg

    I can't tell you what it tastes like yet, as you are supposed to let it 'improve' (like all gingerbread) for a few days – yes, DP is in tears at the prospect :rotfl:I can however confirm that it smells delish.

    Beanie– thank you for popping in – I hadn't realised when I took the pic how much like a 'regular' beef burger the burger looks – the cheese has made it look much more mince like – ooops :o

    Thank you for continuing to support me. It is greatly appreciated.

    See y'all later.

Sigh.... this ain't working.....:( Edit: would you believe that Windows had to close and re-open the tab before I could post this. What is wrong with my computer?????

    That was entirely my fault beanie - I was so busy putting in the smilies etc, that I forgot the weblink. Apologies, but it's up now :D
