But then he will want paying won't he??
What a silly comment to make when these boilers are free as is the installation through British Gas.0 -
Thanks - that's the intention hence why my plumber will be on site to ask the relevant questions.
Potterton - NOoooo way!!!
If that is all they will fit, then I'll keep what I have.
It's like comparing a well serviced but oldish Aston Martin with the bottom of the range new KIA.
If I remember rightly Potterton were slated on Watchdog because of their boilers in refusing to accept that they had built in failure problems. Eventually they all had to be attended to under a nationwide recall.
How is yours by comparison to the Worcester?
Can't comment on that I'm afraid, condensate pipe connected to rainwater pipe backed up and flooded the boiler 10 days after it was fitted! Just over 4 weeks on, I STILL have no heating or hot water.
In a dispute with BG but think it will be going to Energy Ombudsman, that's why I warned you to check and double check everything AND get it in writing.
I thought Potterton/Baxi were ok mid range boilers? No??
Might be a good idea to keep what you have, I wish I had! You're lucky to have a mate who's a plumber to keep you right.0 -

Yes, as I don't have any plumbing skills I bring in people that have.
Potterton are in the bottom 25% of boilers. Not quite cheap and nasty but certainly not good value and free of inbuilt defects.
As for the condensing pipe, my plumber has talked about this to me already and mentioned that they will try to get away with the easiest option.
It should be plumbed directly into the waste under the sink. Connecting it outside you run the risk of it freezing up and the eventual flooding of the kitchen where the boiler is.0 -
