No paper work signed = no contract?

Hi there, I was just wondering if I accept a contract over the telephone and never receive a paper contract to sign if it is legally binding?
So for example, I call my current phone provider to renew my plan and get a new phone. The agree to the upgrade and send out the phone. Few months down the line I wish to cancel the upgrade. Since I have never received a contract to sign and only verbally accepted the agreement there is no contract.
This hasn't happened to me. I am just wondering.

Contracts can be agreed verbally - no need to have all contracts in writing.0

By accepting and using the phone, I think you could reasonably be deemed to have accepted the contract. It's a similar thing in the workplace - some people say that they have no contract, but what they actually mean is that they have never signed a contract. By turning up to work, doing the job, and accepting payment for the work that you have done, you have entered a contract.0 -
When you buy something in a shop, you are forming a contract. Nothing written there eitherOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Excellent, I'll be cancelling the contract for my phone and getting it for free then.
Oh wait, no I won't as this isn't true.0 -
There is a contract, there just isn't paperwork to prove there's a contract. If you have used the replacement phone, there is a very demonstrable acceptance of the contract.0
