Hi
I get my springer spaniel puppy on saturday the breeder has registered him with the kennel club and I got the paperwork this morning for his 4 weeks of free insurance with them. On the letter it tells you about continuing the cover I just wondered if anyone has used them are they expensive ? Or does anyone know a good insurer totally new to this the vet offers 4 weeks free insurance with petplan when he has his jabs but hes already with kennel club for now.
Bit lost with it all I dont want to be paying a fortune but want him covered
Thankyou

Hi, below is a post i added recently about kennel club insurance, hope it helps?
"Hi, my darling boy who I lost just before Easter, was insured with KC and I can honestly say I never had an issue with them. They paid out in the region of £80,000 (yep, £80,000) over the 12 years he was with me. The premiums did go up a fair bit, which given how much they paid out was fair enough, but the service I got was brilliant. I even got a lovely handwritten card when I called to let them know he had died. Can't speak highly enough of them."0 -

I would just say that when I looked into having my Goldie insured by Kennel Club insurance after the initial 4 weeks, was a bit gob smacked at the quote - at the time three years ago it was £45 a month. I appreciate the comments that have been made above about level of service. John Lewis quoted me for lifetime cover £23 which I felt was a more fair price given the dog was only a few months old. They have quoted me this year £35 for life time cover which hopefully puts some perspective into current status as he now just over 3 years old.0

I would do a couple of quotes to see how they compare
A few I would use:
Petplan (generally regarded as the best)
John Lewis (really good but they have changed underwriter recently so not sure if this is still the case)
Axa (good prices & used to be JL underwriter!)
Argos (but I got really high quotes from them)
Make sure you get a "proper" lifetime cover - one that renews with a set amount each year (some lifetimes have a set amount in total - you could reach that in, say year 2, and then not be covered for the rest of the pets life) HTHGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Thankyou for that I will have a look at those and thanks for explaining the lifetime bit I get it now
Just sent off his microchip paperwork and get a free month with petplan with it and the vets do a free month too when he has second jab so im trying to be clever and have the free ones one month after another lol whilst I look at quotes
