Aqua - bank wont accept their payment details - anyone else having the same trouble?

I just received my Aqua Statement and a leaflet advising of changes they are making to how you make your payments.

I have always used faster payments from my bank (Halifax), the leaflet advises that I need to set up a new payment using a new sort code and account number (30-00-00 / 00282448). Halifax says it doesn't recognise those details as belonging to any company or organisation and wont let me set up the payment. I double checked the details and I have definately used the right ones, so it is a bit strange really.

I have sent Aqua a secure message telling them but it will take a couple of days before they answer.

The only way round it I can see is to set it up as a payment to a person not a company and just use Aqua as the name but don't really fancy doing it that way. Anyone else had any bother trying to set up a new payment to them using these details?

Also had this problem with Halifax, tried to do pay a person too but no luck. Decided to abandon Halifax and used Nationwide instead where it did allow me to input a new sort code and account number, although their company search feature also had the old details. I've read on here that other people have had the same problem with Lloyds.

I'm with Halifax but had no problems with my direct debit being accepted. Not quite the same as Faster payment though.

At least I'm notthe only one then........
Will be interesting to see what Aqua come back with. I don't need to worry about this month anyway, as I paid it on Monday before the statement arrived using the old details and it went through okay and was creditied to my account within the hour.

Both the old and new sort codes are still with HBOS/Lloyds group, I expect it will be a while before the old sort codes would be discontinued. So I would just pay using the old account details.

The banks often automatically update these things internally, so you might find that the sort code details get updated for you.

Why not make a debit card payment in the meanwhile instead? I did a test payment using the old details which worked. I suspect that SAV are digging their way out of the HBOS infrastructure, as the new interface looks suspiciously similar to the one used by Creation.
  • Had the sae problem with Lloyds. Used the old numbers, payments working fine at the mo.
