Flat Roof Treatment Advice

I went up onto my two flat roofs, 8' x 6', above my 2 x 3rd storey attic windows today to paint the fascias, which I could see from the ground had weathered a lot. They are 23 years old. Whilst on top, I noticed that one of the roofs had lost about a quarter of its embedded gravel in the bitumen coating on the felt and that that exposed area was deeply crazed. I'd like to tackle it before I get leaks. I'm familiar with Belzona treatments in my line of work but wondered if there was a DIY similer treatment? If so what, and do I need to scrape off the gravel before application?
