statutory paternity leave and pay

Hi all,
i am hoping that someone can help me with this. My partner has decided to take 2 weeks holiday when our baby is born so that we are still receiving his full wage (unfortunately our employer only has the minimum maternity and paternity allowances and no additional package)
Someone told us recently that he will be entitled to receive statutory paternity pay for 2 weeks regardless of the fact he is taking 2 weeks holiday. does anyone know if this is correct or does he have to take the time off as paternity leave to receive the payment?
I am now 28 weeks pregnant so we are fast running out of time to sort this out so all advice and suggestions will be gratelfully received.

If your partner was employed for 26 weeks (continuous) by the time you were 25 weeks pregnant then he is entitled to 2 weeks paid paternity leave.
He would have to take this as statutory paternity leave which to be honest is better than taking it as holiday because he could then add a further 2 weeks holiday giving him a total of 4 weeks off FULLY PAID.Wise men talk because they have something to say, Fools because they have to say something0 -

Maybe i didn't make my self as clear as i should of ...... what i mean't was .. why should the op's partner use 2 weeks of holiday pay in place of spp/leave when he could infact have both giving him a total of 4 weeks off paid albeit with 2 of those at £112.75pw paterntity payWise men talk because they have something to say, Fools because they have to say something0
