another one? you're moving in the wrong direction

    same advice as before.

change back to avast free (untick optional chrome installation when installing avast, untick participate in avast community)

upgrade the ram (another 1GB will make a lot of difference for very little money)

disable flash player update and microsoft .net optimization services using services.msc

I am trying to do what you sugested, I have now bought another 1GB and need to watch a video to see how to install it, however it took about over an hour for it to load earlier on, so I have gone through again all your instructions and it does seem to have become a lot faster, many thanks. will follow the next steps you suggested.

ram, should make all the difference. but taking an hour is extreme unless it's doing windows updates, is it backed up?

    press a key

    what exactly have you done?

did you check the ram was compatible

pulled any leads out, changed anything in the bios?

how long has it been taking an hour to boot, and what was on screen at the time?

    backed up?

    what leads?

can't really read your message, but it usually means one of 3 things

    hard disk broken
cable to hard disk loose or not connected
    bios settings messed up

vacuums and ram don't go, ram is sensitive to static.
