    Or if you don't want to ask them directly, ask their friends/family. presumeably they would have been invited to the "do".

    or a search on ancestry.co.uk if you know roughly when/where, anyone can order copies of marraige certificates , confirm parents names are correct on that to be 100 %

    If the person is somebody that you, or somebody else, is considering a relationship with, you/they have to be able to trust the answer they'd get from just asking. If not, you/they should take fluffnutter's advice.
    And if it's anybody else, is it their business?
