JSA and seasonal work

Hi

I'm currently, frantically looking for work and as i live at a seaside resort i thought i'd try for some seasonal work.

My question is, When the season finishes, and assuming i don't have another job lined-up, do i have to wait the three days before i can sign on again?

Also, is the government going ahead with the 'waiting a week for JSA' that was suggested recently. ?

Thank you

  • If you do not have another job to go on to once a seasonal one has stopped, then you can sign on straight away, there is no waiting period at all. So when you know it is ending fill in the application form on line a couple of days before hand so that things can be put in motion and they can then send you your appointment.
  • You claim from the first day you are unemployed, but you don't get paid for the first three days.

There are no waiting days served if you make a new claim within 13 weeks of the last claim ending, you would receive JSA from the date you claim (obviously dependant on if you are otherwise eligible)

There is at present no detailed info about this and when it will come in but assuming the 13 weeks applies still you wouldn't be affected.
