Welcome Finance PPI

Hi,
I had a car loan from Welcome finance, when i split form my wife the car remained with her, eventually I bought a house and HFO took me to court to recover the money, this was back in 2008, After receiving the CCJ and a restriction against the property they agreed and I paid £7500 against the £9414 CCJ removing the restriction on the property.
I am looking to claim back the PPI on this loan, I have my orginal WF account No. so my question is how should I go about pursing this claim myself, as most comapnies seem to want 30-40% + VAT of succesful claims.

I have Just found out online that FSCS has declared WFS in default:
[Can't post link but see FSCS web site]
Am I best to call for a claims form or request the details of the original account from them as I only have the Account number not the agreement and statements?0 -
Did the car dealer sell you the loan (and PPI )? If so you complain to them.
Be aware that any redress could be used first against the amount written off.
Do NOT use a claims company, particularly in your circumstances. If you were to receive anything and it was used to set-off you would still owe the claims company their cut0 -
When did you purchase the loan?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. I have recently applied for a PPI refund through Welcome Finance, it was actually easy to get the relevant forms to fill out. I actually just emailed claimanthelp@wfs.co.uk and got application form through yesterday.
It is fairly straightforward to fill in and I don't even have any of my own Welcome Finance paperwork left but all my information was still on file.
I did however have to send in proof of my ID and address as it was different from when I took out the loan. I also wrote a cover letter explaining my change of address just to be certain.
It's a very easy process going it alone, I would never pay any company to do it for me, I will post a new thread later detailing if I have had any success.0 -
It is not necessarily easy with Welcome finance as it depends when you bought it and the distribution channel you used. You certainly wouldnt use a claims company though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
