Halifax offer time scale.....

Hi all

Valuation was done yesterday, how long can I expect to wait before I hear anything?
Will it be by post/email/phone call?
We applied direct through the Halifax at our local branch

Depends upon how prompt the Mortgage Advisor is...

If the documents have been processed in advance, potentially the offer can be done today/tomorrow.

If not, there will be a delay.

The Mortgage Advisor may just let the postal copy come out at which point you should receive within the next couple of weeks.

Answer is a piece of string I am afraid, but ballpark anytime from now to 2 weeks.

And also how prompt the surveyor is in filing the report on the system.

We had our valuation done on the friday morning and had our formal offer emailed to us by lunchtime that same day, by our broker. This all happended about amonth ago

Very happy with that.

The broker we used did chase the offer up for us, which I really appreciated as it is very nerve wracking.

I've had mortgage offers the same day or the next day for 2 of my clients a week ago. They are quite quick with the offer.

The broker copy of the offer is available to download from the intermediary website pretty quickly. However, the one in the post may take a few days.

I'm waiting for the offer as well. 7 days after valuation now, still none news! I just really worry.

From ur experience, would u say it is normally a bad news or bad sign for it to take so long for a decision after valuation?

The valuation went ahead and they only valued it at 190k, we offered 200k. This actually doesn't affect the loan as the Halifax mortgage lady has told me as we only want to borrow 90k, she has told me to stop worrying re the mortgage because it all looks fine but its now up to us to wait and read the full report and see exactly what the problems are and if we want to re negotiate before going ahead.
Spoke to the estate agent who is adamant the vendor will not accept the 10k less.... So we have to sit down once the report arrives and work out what we want to do. I do really love the house and from what the surveyor told me over the phone the actual problem is something my partner could sort (a builder) for around £2000 but we don't want to tell them that!
Flipping heck, this buying lark is soooooo stressful!

Our valuation was done on Monday (8th) and we received our copy of it through the post today. It all looks okay so we are in the same boat now...... waiting for the offer
