Won a holiday - whats the catch?

Good Morning all - a little advise if you please
Just received a call to say that I have won a holiday.
Well – I’m still being a little sceptical coz it sounds like it could be a timeshare thing!!
Anyhoo – I entered a competition to win a holiday to Florida – I haven’t won that but have won a 7 day luxury s/c holiday for 4 (flights & accommodation) to either Turkey, Austria, Tenerife or Costa Del Sol valid for 18 months (I think I provide 4 dates and am guaranteed one of them!!)
There is £29 booking fee per person and airport taxes of £25-£35 per person (not so free – :rotfl: ) and I have to go to a two hour *meeting* at somewhere in Yorks next week (this is why I am thinking timeshare) – however, I was told that this is a no obligation prize and that I will also get *some* vouchers for a variety of high street stores to chose from!!
What do you think?
Thanks in advance

That's definately timeshare... if you'd won a holiday why on earth would you have to go to a 2hr meeting???Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Sounds like it could be timeshare to me...Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.0

I've had these a couple of times but never bothered with them. The terms tend to say you've got to sit through 2 or 3 hours of basically sales pitch but you don't have to buy anything.
Depends whether you think it's worth sitting there and if you can avoid buying anything.

i do think it is time share but my friend went on one of these she got a free weeks holiday for four to spain in five star accomadation had to listen to a talk for a couple of hours but said it was worth it to get the free holiday ...i think if your strong enough to be able to say no and not sign then you could have a very cheap holiday ..if it was me i would go for it0

I have some friends who do this every year for their main family holiday! They go armed with a whole set of reasons why they cannot take out timeshare at the moment - impending redundancy, pregnancy etc (none true, but all good excuses for being financially unable to commit), go to the talk (sometimes here, sometimes in resort) and get some fantastic holidays - often for 2 weeks.
They are a family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers so to get a holiday for the admin fee and the flight tax is good for them. They are very good at making the "right" noises though and are very strong at resisting sales. Obviously don't even attempt this if you are likely to sign on the dotted line.....Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Thanks everyone - I was pretty sure it was a timeshare....
....HOWEVER.....
.....being that OH has just been made redundant I know I wont be signing anything (wouldn't anyway for a timeshare) and what a great way of getting a jolly not knowing when we would be able to have one again!!
I was just hoping that this was the only catch
Thanks again

HI tigtag - my brother went on one of these holidays and said it was worth sitting through the meeting.
Check out all the costs though - depending how many of you there are, all the various admin fees, airport taxes etc could make it more expensive than just getting a budget flight and sorting out your own accommodation.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
