Slim headed HDMI cable?

Options
Looking for some help/advice.

For one reason or another, we plastered up the channelling in the wall from the wall mounted TV before we had all our cables in place.

We now need an extra HDMI cable channelled down for a Blu Ray player, but the space in the wall seems to be quite tight and a standard HDMI cable won't fit down.

What cables do your recommend that have as little plastic coating on as possible? (around the head of the HDMI cable) ?

We need a 3m length.

Thank you.

Also, please don't comment on the stupidity of plastering a wall before all cables are in place - I have berated my partner enough as it is :rotfl:

Depending on the amount of space you've got you might find that doing something like changing the existing cable at the same time (if it's got a chunky cable) makes it easier.

You might be able to get a micro HDMI to HDMI cable, and a connector to covert it from micro to normal if all else fails.
IIRC micro/type D HDMI has all the same wiring as a normal one, but with a different end connector so adaptors should be cheap as they're passive (a micro HDMI/type d connector is about half the size of a normal one).

Another thing to possibly look at is HDMI over Ethernet, if you can get an Ethernet cable down the conduit (remembering it's fairly easy to put the ends on Ethernet cabling yourself, so you only need to worry about the actual cable), iirc it's about £40 for a pair of adaptors for that.

    Thanks Nilrem.

There is actually plenty of space in the trunking, but the plastic housing on the head of the HDMI cable is catching on the screw that is holding the trunking in place to the wall. So I'm hoping that all I need is a thinner-headed HDMI cable.

That is interesting about the micro cable though, I will look into that. Would this affect the quality at all do you think?

    Thanks

Is it much too big? If it is just grazing on the screw, perhaps you could tie a piece of string to the cable and drop that down first, then you could try pulling the cable past the obstruction. (Disclaimer that if you end up pulling the head off the cable and blocking it even worse, it's not my fault!)

Agreed wire or string, and tape round the connector to smooth out its profile, maybe a touch of Vaseline as well.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Lindy do an ultra thin hdmi cable. It does only have the 1 stare rating on amazon. Or you could do own search for ultra thin hdmi cable.

    Thanks for your replies.

Because the previous HDMI cables we've tried have had such 'bulky', squared off edges, it will just not budge past the screw. We tried putting string down and pulling it but it just will not come down.

There is the power cord, an HDMI cable and a little thin wire for the remote receiver - that's all at the moment.
