Decking advice please (ours is now a mess)

We moved into our place in November. We thought that the decking could do with a bit of a revival so we decided to use a decking oil which seemed to do the job in terms of all water now beads but it made it go a horrible dark colour
. We then saw the ads on TV for the Ronseal Decking Stain (the one with the sponge brush for easy application) and we were sold. We applied it this weekend (after blasting the deck with power washer thing) and all I can say is that, after 2 coats of this stuff (we chose golden cedar - I ask myself why, why????) our decking has now gone a horrible patchy orangey colour. It is awful and the decking is an absolute mess:eek: . Please can anyone advise on how to rectify the situation? Is it possible to remove or should we try and "tidy up" with another coat? Any advice appreciated.

We did ours 4-6 weeks ago, we used Wilkos own brand, it was a pine colour.
All we did was power hose old decking, scrub with bleach with a scrubber, let dry and apply two coats of decking oil.
It turned out fine not dark at all, we did choose a light colour and the bleach probably took some colour out as the wood appeared just off white0 -
Ok, back to basics here first please.....
is the decking hardwood or softwood (usually has a green tinge to it)
Assuming you have softwood then I would also assume it is tanalized (stops rotting).
You applied a deck oil - was it a high quality one or a DIY store one? Was it coloured or clear?
Assuming it was coloured then I guess it was a dark colour which you did not like? Or is the wood already that dark?
You then washed it and applied deck stain in a lighter colour - was the surface prepared - can the decking stain be applied over other things (check the tin) Did the wood dry out before you applied the stain? Did it need to?
Can you post a picture of the problem?
One of the best tings for solving all problems like this is Netrol

but it depends on what the damage already is. Let's see if we can work it out first.
