"Student Loan" on first payslip - never a student.

Hi, my girlfriend who just moved to the UK from Switzerland got her first payslip today, she's never been a student in any country and she got a deduction of £12 listed as "student loan"


Can anyone clarify why this may be? Is there a mistake? What should she do?

    Speak to her employer and ask why they are deducting this money when she has never been a student in the UK as she is from Switzerland.

    She asked at the time why it was on her payslip, her manager merely responded by telling her she doesn't know... Not much use really =/

    The manager probably has nothing to do with Payroll.

    She needs to ask whoever deals with the employees pay and payslips.
