Hi - Tesco Car Park Fine

I should probably read through all the threads and I apologise for not doing so...

Mum was "fined" today for being 27 minutes over. Went into Tesco and spent money obviously, but she completely forgot about the time. Use that Tesco all the time so it's a joke but it is what it is.

I will do some digging in this forum but is it fairly safe to say if she bins the letter that very little will happen in the way of them coming after her?

We do not advise binning (or even ignoring) these letters; in fact there is fun to be had with appealing a fake PCN to Highview!

Firstly does your Mum or passenger have any medical condition which may mean they need longer to shop? If yes then they are covered by the Equality Act 2010.

Secondly she should stomp back into Tesco and demand to see the Store Manager ( NOT a Duty Manager off the meat counter or wherever they call them from!). Store Managers can cancel these fake PCNs if a customer complains the following week and shows a receipt. INSIST they cancel it, go with her and dress smartly...be assertive but polite and explain that you know they can cancel these fake PCNs (laugh if they say it's a real fine - I did when my local store said the same!!).

Also post a complaint on the Tesco facebook page in the morning, not an appeal, a COMPLAINT about the harassment and Tesco pretending it's OK to issue fake fines to customers...warn them they will end up like Aldi and their facebook page at the moment!

As for the fun to be had, well if Tesco won't cancel it when you complain and threaten to take your business away, then it's time to appeal. There is a second stage (POPLA) where an appeal can be won if you word it well, with this forum's help. Why bother? Well it costs Highview well over £30 for each person's POPLA stage appeal and it isn't even binding on you, only on them. And most importantly, we know how to win even if you do a jokey first appeal to Highview (which they HATE!).

Your Mum will like the Parking Prankster's blogs showing the funny wording he used in his first appeals to Highview (one about Elvis and zombies, one about a radioactive spider...!) then he won at POPLA with a proper appeal and royally p1ssed Highview off at their own expense!
