Faulty shoes - right to repair?

Hi
I bought some shoes from an ebay shop (not auction) last Sept (summer shoes, have therefore now only worn them 3 times). They are disintegrating on the inner sole and so are unwearable, but I think they are worth repairing. Can I ask the shop to cover the cost? They are offering me an exchange, saying that they no longer have a record of the invoice on ebay (even though I've sent them a copy of my order and payment receipt). I haven't yet asked them to cover repair - do I have grounds to? I can't stand the thought of them being binned, but also don't want to have to pay for their repair myself...
Thanks for any advice!

I would be interested to see if you get anywhere with this claim. Shoes are very hard to claim on. Good luck.

If there is an inherent fault then the seller has to replace, repair or refund (possibly partial). You can't force them into an option that is more expensive than one of the others though, so effectively they get to pick.

Also note that since its more than 6 months since you bought the shoes they are technically going beyond their legal obligations by offering a solution without you first proving that the fault is inherent.

How much will it cost to repair the shoe compared to the wholesale price the shop will pay for them?

    Thanks for your replies.
Good point - they cost me £40 (so I guess wholesale considerably less) and my (London) cobbler quoted £30 to repair (which could probably be cheaper elsewhere). Shoe shope offered exchange to value of original sale.
So not talking loads of money here...maybe not worth pursuing, don't know!

What is there to pursue? They've offered you a replacement, that's all they have to do.

And after 10 months I think that is amazing.

I agree, I get 4-6 months from a pair of mine. They have no idea how much they were used, so very much a goodwill gesture.
