Preserving No Claims Discount
Hi there!
My wife and I have both accrued full no-claims discount on car insurance over the years on separate cars.
However, for the past year we have shared one car - how can we both preserve our NCD?
Our current insurance policy is in my name - with the wife as a named driver. However, if I do that again this year - will she lose her NCD?
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

You lose your NCD after 2 years.
How about taking it in turns - year about?
How about buying a moped - just for the hell of it, even if you never use it?
Probably be some restriction on doing that.
I got a moped when I was 16 so that I could start earning discount for when I bought my first car.
Have to admit though - that was a year or two ago, cough, cough.0 -

If you share it roughly 50/50 why not just swap the main driver each year. That way your NCB won't pass 2 year limit on use.
Is there a high likelyhood of you needing seperate cars again in the future?
Don't quote me on this. But it may be possible to insure you both on seperate policies for same car, if with same company. Would have to contact company to ask. Just explain your needs to them.Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)
Savings target June 18 - £22,281.99 / £25,0000 -
Thank you guys!
Seems like swapping main driver each year would be easiest solution until/if we get a second car again.
Thanks for taking the time to write - much appreciated!
Take care!0
