What Are My Rights?

I bought a new 3 piece suite in January. It was expected to take about 13 weeks to deliver, but it arrived after 8 weeks. As I was redecorating, this was inconvenient, so I tried to postpone it. The store would not hold it but they said that they would double wrap it, which they did. I took delivery and signed the receipt "unchecked". Today, about 5 weeks after delivery, I unwrapped the first sofa and have found a small tear. The other two pieces are still wrapped. What are my rights? Can I demand a replacement?

Try calling them first and explaining the problem, if that fails then delve into rights.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • I have phoned them and they are sending somebody to have a look. However, I wanted to be sure of my rights in case I have to get into a negotiation / discussion with them.
