The damp in the lounge looks like the "tip of the iceberg" with 90% of it probably being concealed by the tongue and groove panelling below. This is highly likely to be widespread rising damp and if so, all the t and g and the wall plaster to the lower half of all the affected walls will need to be removed and replaced before redecorating after an initial drying out period of at least two weeks.
One thing is apparent from the photos though, this is not condensation caused by the living habits of the previous occupants, there are at least two seperate damp issues inherent in the building.
When you view on friday after the landlord has finished his "repairs", unless a significant amount of replastering has been done along with some damp proofing and chimney repairs, I would seriously doubt that the issues have been properly dealt with. You have heard of "papering over the cracks" well in this case the expression might be "painting over the damp".
Good luck.
doing a quick google it appears to be penetrating damp rather than condensation or rising damp,at least i can approach LA with some idea of what im talking about0 -

How long would "painting over the damp" last ? i will check the tenancy but i believe its a 6 month tenancy at which point we could leave if it hasnt been sorted properly,We are kind of stuck now as current LL has found out we have found somewhere else so we now on a countdown timer0 -
Just because your current landlord wants you out does not mean that you must take a defective property only to be in the same situation in six months time looking for yet another property but having to deal with damp on top. The same situation but a fair bit poorer once you've factored in moving expenses and all the hassle with Council Tax, utilities etcetera.
What countdown timer? Have you formally given notice to your current landlord before you've secured your onward move?
Painting over penetrating damp will last about a fortnight. Please pay attention to what you are being advised. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROPERTY! IT'S A PIECE OF !!!!!!0 -
