Connect MP3 to USB

Hi all

Hopefully a quick question .......
I have a 256MB MP3 player and a 2GB USB Pen-drive.
Is it possible to connect the two together and get the MP3 player to use the USB drive as the memory for the tracks?
I'm only asking as doing this would be cheaper (probably) than buying a new MP3.

I'd say it sounds very unlikely. If it were even possible you'd need a gender changer to physically connect them.

I've got a gender-changer (I think). Just wondered if it was possible in the first place?

it is very unlikely as the mp3 player would need tohave the abiliyt to select the source of the files and I doubt that will be the case on a small mp3 player like the one you have.

I guess that idea's out of thw window.
    Look's like I'll have to buy a new/bigger MP3.

I'd suggest that buying a cheap (say) 1gb mp3 player would be a lot less hassle in any case if not actually cheaper.

I'm not a techie, but from what i've read, USB works as host or slave - when you plug memory (pen drive, mp3 player, etc.) into a computer the computer is host, the memory is the slave. Extra, more expensive, electronic interface stuff can allow a device to be a host, but i would guess not normally mp3 players or usb memory (though i've got a new video /music media player that can act as host, so i can plug an external hard drive, or memory stick, into it and access those files.)

So mp3 player is slave only, and memory stick is slave only, so wont work.
