If your girlfriend noves in then your mortgage payment will at least halve and free up more disposable income for you? The CSA wont take every penny that you save by your GF contributing. Dont forget the extra savings by someone else also contributing towards the other household utilities either.

I dont think DUTR or myself are having a go at you. Just genuinely confused by a few aspects of your post.

It makes no sense to me that you are not better off with going with your plan of your partner moving in with you even if you have to pay a bit more csa as surely what you would save in bills and mortgage payment on her house would more than make up for the additional maintenance that would be assessed.

I fully understand what you mean... CSA1 Sucks...!!!

Have you tried to work out what the CSA payments would be IF your gf did live with you now...???

It may be worth considering asking someone who knows the calculations to have a look at it with a rough estimate of your gf's income included...

I understand the apprehension that her moving in may cause, you know the whole giving the ex an extra £500 a month because your g/f has an income sucks, and it is not like the CSA has been in a rush to move people over, they where quick enough when they decided to end the benefits application of CSA but CSA1 finished some 8 years before that and still people can't get on with there lives without being financially penalised...

Stinks of a rotten to the core sexist propaganda cause that makes the government feel better...!!! If you are going to change a system then change it... Don't leave people hanging out to dry...!!!

DUTR, Fbaby and Diva give the man a break....I should be the last one to defend him...but this is a REAL gentleman ~ he has paid many thousands of pounds (just like mine) in maintenance for his child, whether he wanted to or not. Good man.

Jarhead: It seems that your latest assessment is quite straight forward - CSA1 1600pm Income (ave), 700pm housing costs (as that is what they allow ( 'up to half your weekly income or £80pw whichever is the highest') plus giro allowance 71.00pw - leaving the £292.00 maintenance required ~ problem is they have MISTAKENLY left the Carer Element included and that your son is over 16 yrs old now. Contact them they will amend.

No he's not just 'worrying' though is he?

OP is simply wants a correct assessment - (about £30pw less to pay on my reckoning) so not just pennies.

You can be classed as 'True Gent' if you want but I didn't think you were in the same 'league' ~ paying the very high amounts Jarhead has paid over his child's 'life' even though he has taken out a higher mortgage to up his housing costs (also like my NRP did) but his son his almost a 'MAN' now, so his paid his due.

    Using the following rates table:
    http://www.dwp.gov.uk/docs/dwp035.pdf
    And this booklet:
    http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@benefits/documents/digitalasset/dg_198872.pdf

The current child allowance is £65.62 + family premium of £17.40 less child benefit of £20.30, so the maintenance needed figure should be £62.72.

Jarhead's weekly income is £373.85 less a personal allowance of £71.70, his mortgage of £168.93 and life cover £11.08 = £122.14.

    £122.14 / 2 = £61.07 maintenance before the protected income calc.

Assuming all the figures supplied are correct, my calcs are correct, and the CSA haven't restricted anything, then the CSA calc is out by £6.54 a week. Obviously any slight variable could alter the figure calculated.
I often use a tablet to post, so sometimes my posts will have random letters inserted, or entirely the wrong word if autocorrect is trying to wind me up. Hopefully you'll still know what I mean.

Since when does paying maintenance make you a gentleman? Maybe I am a REAL lady because I have supported my children without a penny from their dad, but I don't see myself as such, just as a responsible parent who accept that children DO cost money and that parents' duty IS to provide a large chunk of their income to them.

As I said I was working my calculation on his 'average' income and I thought the actual mortgage payment in total was £168.93 and this included payment protection, etc., and didn't realise he had them listed separately - to be included, as we all know council tax is not.

Sorry for any confusion ~ in your name also ;)

It does not make you a gentleman at all in the real world, but when it comes to the scams a lot of NRP's strive to to avoid paying Child Maintenance for 'their' own child/ren, then it does...

You are real woman, like we all are who are raising our children to the best of our ability, but not because you have supported your children solely, without a penny from their father ~ just a bit of a sucker who made some bad choices in life regarding the father of her brood.
