Hi,
Can anyone help me please
My boyfriend has just changed jobs as the company he has worked for for over 5 years is going down the pan.
He is going to be on much lower wage, just over 15,000 per year full time and I earn about 16,000 a year nearly full time.
We also have childcare costs, but when I put our details in to calculators it just says 0 for everything, I really thorught we may be able to get some help? But never tried to claim so really don't know.
If anyone could help that would be great.
Thank you

how many children?
you need to work out your estimated income for this year
eg you £16k, him x months @ £x prorata + y months @ £15k prorata
Tax credits will initially base on last years income but you can call and give them an estimate of this years
for a guide

as per the table (which uses £90 per week for an example for childcare costs) it does look like your combined income is too high for assistance0

No they will all their child care covered if their costs are only £240/ month for one child. The rule is 70% of £175 / week which works out at £122.50 , so as their child care is around £55.38 a week it would be covered in full. All they need to do is apply. I agree that they would not get actual WTC as their income is too high. But they will or should get Child tax credit as their income is only just over the £15,910 threshold and next year they may well get WTC too. So well worth applying for it.0

But childcare is part of WTC? It is paid with CTC, but it is a WTC element.
And just because their childcare is less than 122,50 doesn't mean you get it in full, they still might not get any childcare element depending on the tapering of the income.
I have just done a calculation and on an estimated income of 35,000 (19,000+16,00) for 13/14 they will get nothing even with the 240 included. And actually, HMRC will use 37,500 anyway.
Next year, when on 31,000 HMRC will use an income of 33,500 so still no entitlement. It wouldn't be until the following year that the new income of 31,000 is used and there will be a small amount of entitlement.

Thank you all very much.
Thanks Icequeen99, so basically we're not entiltled to anything. This is what I thought from my calculations on the website, it just said 0.
By the time we are entiltled it will probably all have changed again anyway. oh well
it was worth asking.
